Our Mission
TravelTally90 was created with a simple goal: to give every traveler a free, reliable way to understand and comply with Europe's Schengen 90/180 day rule. The rolling 180-day window is one of the most misunderstood travel regulations in the world, and getting it wrong can mean fines, deportation, or years-long entry bans.
We believe that access to accurate travel compliance tools should not cost anything. TravelTally90 is and always will be free to use.
Why We Built This
The idea for TravelTally90 came from first-hand experience navigating the complexity of European travel rules. Calculating days manually across multiple trips, keeping track of the rolling window, and planning future stays without accidentally overstaying is confusing and error-prone.
Most existing resources either give you a static explanation of the rule or offer paid tools with unnecessary complexity. We wanted something different: a calculator that is fast, accurate, and works right in your browser without needing to create an account or hand over personal data.
How the Calculator Works
TravelTally90 implements the official Schengen day-counting methodology as defined by the European Commission. The algorithm:
- Uses an inclusive day count where both entry and exit days count as full days
- Evaluates each date against a rolling 180-day window, not a fixed calendar period
- Clips trip dates to the window boundaries when trips overlap the window edges
- Simulates future stays day by day to find the lowest balance and your last legal day
- Accounts for the one-for-one recovery where old days "fall off" the window
The tool distinguishes between Schengen and non-Schengen countries automatically, so trips to Ireland, Cyprus, or other non-Schengen destinations are correctly excluded from your count.
Privacy and Data
TravelTally90 is a fully client-side application. All calculations happen in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit any trip data to servers. When you share your itinerary, trip data is compressed and encoded directly into the URL — no database, no accounts, no tracking of your travel plans.
